LC falls to ranked LSU Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Wildcats annual trip to Northwest Louisiana for a showdown with LSU-Shreveport didn't go as well as could be hoped as Louisiana College fell by a count of 11-3 to the Pilots, the No. 13 team in the NAIA.

LSU-S (9-6) got its 11 runs on 10 hits and one error by the Wildcats while LC (7-3) scored its trio of runs on six hits and two errors by the Pilots.

Senior Cody Laprarie (Bentley, La./Grant HS/LSU-Alexandria) went 1-for-3 with two runs scored on the day and senior shortstop Steven Davis (Monroe, La./Ouachita Parish HS) 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace the Wildcat offense.

Senior designated hitter Anthony Benoit (Lafayette, La./St. Micheal's) added two RBI for LC.

Manny Estrada was tops for the Pilots going 2-for-4 with a homerun, two RBI and three runs scored from his leadoff position. Designated hitter Andrew Brouillette went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored second baseman Cody Causey 1-for-2 with two runs scored and another driven in.

Sophomore Corey Elvir (Walker, La./Walker HS) took the loss pitching in relief for LC and fell to 0-1 on the season.

Drew Middleton (2-1) got the win for LSU-Shreveport.

Up next for LC will be a three-game weekend series against Hardin-Simmons, the team that eliminated LC from the 2010 American Southwest Conference Tournament. That series will begin with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Friday and conclude with a single, nine-inning game at noon on Saturday.
