CLINTON, Miss. - A tough first half proved too much for the Lady Cats to overcome and Louisiana College fell 86-84 in its regular season finale at Mississippi College.
The loss gave LC a 22-2 overall record and 18-2 record in American Southwest Conference play this season. The Lady Cats, currently ranked 13th in the nation, lost their two games by a combined seven points this season, the other loss being a 65-60 setback at McMurry in January.
On Monday night, Louisiana College trailed 35-24 at halftime after shooting just seven percent from the three point line in the opening session.
The Lady Cats rebounded to outscored MC 60-51 in the second half, but the damage was done.
The loss overshadowed an amazing performance by LC senior forward Tillisha Givens, who put up a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double and was one of four Lady Cats to reach double figures. The other players to score 10 or more points were Kayla Guidry (12), Roslyn Wilmer (14) and Shasidy Ludgood (11).
The Lady Choctaws had six players reach double figures, two of whom logged double-doubles, Jennifer Wair (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Randa Lee (10 points, 14 assists). The other double-figure scorers for MC were Jalessa Taylor (18), Traci Rodgers (15), Elizabeth Brooks (11) and Valeri Stewart (10).
