SHREVEPORT, La. - In what was a preview of what will become a conference match-up in the coming years, the Louisiana College baseball team split a doubleheader with Centenary Saturday afternoon, with the Gents winning the first game 1-0 and LC taking the second 4-2.

Sophomore pitcher Kory Kottenbrook (Springhill, La./Springhill HS/LSU-Shreveport), an emerging star among the LC newcomers improved to 2-0 on the season after going seven innings in Game 2, striking out seven while allowing eight hits and walking none.

Ironically, in Game 1, LC's starting pitcher, staff ace Greg Uzee (Gretna, La./Archbishop Shaw) fell to 1-1 despite pitching well enough to win. He pitched all six innings of a seven-inning game and struck out 10 while allowing eight hits and walking just one batter.

Unfortunately for Uzee, LC managed just four hits in the first contest and surrendered an unearned run to the Gents in the fifth inning.

In Game 2, the Wildcats bats came to life, though, and LC scored four runs on 10 hits.

Junior Jordan Marks (Alexandria, La./Holy Savior Menard/LSU-Alexandria) was the top batter for the Wildcats, going 3-for-4 in that contest.

The Wildcats record now sits at 7-2 on the year while Centenary is now 1-1.

Next up for LC will be a Tuesday night single game at LSU-Shreveport.
