MARSHALL, Texas – The LC women guaranteed themselves no worse than a two-loss record heading into the 2011 postseason thanks to a 73-57 win over East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference action here Thursday night.
With just one game to play, a makeup game against Mississippi College in Clinton on Feb. 21, Louisiana College boasts a record of 22-1 overall and 18-1in the ASC.
On Thursday, ETBU (7-15, 5-13 ASC) gave the Lady Cats quite a run through the first half and LC led just 28-26 at the break.
Louisiana College would outscore the Tigers 45-31in the second half to set up the win.
Ironically for a team that has routinely had five player reach double-figure scoring, ETBU actually had more players score 10 or more points than did LC.
ETBU had three players reach that mark while Louisiana College had just two.
Lucky for the Lady Cats, five more LC women came very near the 10-point mark, which proved the difference in the convincing win.
Senior Kayla Guidry scored a game-high 19 to pace Louisiana College while junior Shasidy Ludgood put up 15.
Also joining in on the offense output for LC were Tillisha Givens (eight points, 15 rebounds), LaQuita Armstead (nine points) and Natosha Gottlieb (seven points), Rosyln Wilmer (six points) and Briana Lewis (six points).
