RICHARDSON, Texas - For the second time in as many seasons, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats are the champions of the American Southwest Conference East Division.

In the first of four road games to end of the regular season, LC came out firing on all cylinders against the University of Texas Dallas en route to a 71-43 win.

The Lady Cats, who are currently ranked 15th in the D3Hoops.com national poll, improved to 16-1 in the ASC and 20-1 overall. The Comets dropped to 13-4 in the conference and 17-5 overall.

Senior All-American Tillisha Givens led the Lady Cats with 24 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Natosha Gottlieb also finished in double digits with 12 points and four rebounds.

Juniors LaQuita Armstead, Roslyn Wilmer and Shasidy Ludgood all finished with eight points and senior Kayla Guidry finished with seven. Junior Shaina Howard and sophomore Katherine Taylor each pitched in two points for the Lady Cats.

“Defensively this was one of our best games of the season,” newly-appointed head coach Jason Tinsley said. “The girls did a good job on the defensive end we made it difficult for them to get an offensive game, and caused 40 turnovers making it difficult for their lead scorers to get into a rhythm.”

The Lady Comets had one player in double digits, Tarneisha Scott who was held to 13 points and three rebounds though she averaged 17.7-points per game coming in. The other Lady Comets who usually finish in double figures, Lyndsey Smith (14.1) and Tawni Ichimura (11.4), were held to six and two points respectively.

With this win, the Lady Cats clinched the ASC East division and secured their position as the East Division No. 1 seed in the ASC tournament which will be hosted by the West Division winner.
LC's next game will be at the University of the Ozarks on Monday at 1 p.m. They'll close out the season with games next Thursday at ETBU and the following Tuesday at Mississippi College.
