PINEVILLE, La. – Most teams get at least a day to regroup after suffering their first loss of the year. The Louisiana College Wildcats got approximately 30 minutes, but rebounded from a 10-6 loss to McKendree in the first game of a doubleheader to post a 7-3 victory in the night cap.

LC (4-1) got the better the Bearcats (1-1), an NAIA school from Lebanon, Ill., which has gained provisional acceptance into NCAA Division II, in the second game thanks to an amazing pitching performance by Korey Kottenbrook (Springhill, La./LSU-Shreveport) and a huge third inning.

Kottenbrook (1-0) earned the win after he struck out 10 batters while walking two and allowing five hits and two earned runs in six innings of work.

The Wildcat offense did its part to assist the winning righty and scored all seven runs in the bottom of the third, an inning in which LC sent 12 batters to the plate and produced six hits.

Sophomore first baseman Mike Doughty (Crowley, La./LSU-Eunice) was the top performer on offense in the second game going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

In the opening game, the Wildcats fell by a count of 10-6 after McKendree put up 15 hits against three LC pitchers – Dustin Fulks, Justin Reed and Justin Lacy.

Lacy (1-1) took the loss after the Bearcats plated four runs to break a 6-6 tie in the top of the seventh.

In Game 2, Cody Laprarie was the top offensive producer for the Wildcats, going 2-for-2 with three runs scored. All helping the LC cause were Jordan Marks (2-for-2, two RBI) and Steven Davis (1-for-3, two runs scored, one RBI).

McKendree was led at the plate by Kyle Moll, the Bearcats' five-hole hitter and catcher who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Andy Kuehn went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored and Daniel Solis went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Jordan Law (1-0), pitching in relief of Nolan Martz and Dakota Schutt, picked up the win.

Louisiana College and McKendree will square off in another doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. for the second half of a four-game series.
