Lady Cats hit triple digits in win over Howard Payne

PINEVILLE, La. - The Lady Cat's rematch with the squad that defeated them in the American Southwest Conference tournament championship game last season skewed heavily in favor of Louisiana College. LC remained undefeated in conference play with a 104-76 win.

The Lady Cats lead 53-38 at the half and outscored Howard Payne 51-38 in the second period to secure the lopsided win and improve to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in conference. HPU dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference.

Louisiana College forced Howard Payne into 29 turnovers, 15 by way of steals, and scored 33 points off of turnovers.

The Lady Cats, who shot 44 percent from the field, committed just 14 turnovers on the night.

Sophomore forward Melody Criswell (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) scored a game-high 23 points pulled six rebounds and made three steals to pace LC with three teammates also reaching double-figure scoring.

Senior guard Roslyn Wilmer (Marksville, La./Marksville HS) scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Junior guard/forward Natosha Gottlieb (Alexandria, La./Bolton HS) scored 21 while freshman forward Danish Allison (Oakdale, La./Oakdale HS) scored 10.

Also making a big impact was senior guard Shaina Howard (Scott, La./Acadiana HS), who dished out eight assists on the night.

The Lady Cats, who play an almost exclusively road-based schedule in the month of December, play their final home game of the calendar year on Saturday when they host Sul Ross State. LC will not return home until January following that contest.
