Men's basketball falls to Rice

HOUSTON – An outmanned Louisiana College shot just 22 percent from the field the first half as Rice opened a big lead Wednesday night en route to a 109-51 victory over the Wildcats at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Rice, a Division I school, scored the game's first nine points and led the Division III Wildcats
58-21 at halftime.

LC was playing with just nine players as three reserves – Jesse Gallegos, Josh Hawkins and Doc Welch – were serving a one-game suspension mandated by the American Southwest Conference for leaving the bench area when a teammate was intentionally fouled near the end of a game against Mississippi College.

Rice improved to 7-2. LC dropped to 4-2. It was LC's third loss to a Division I team this season but the first two were exhibitions that do not count against the Wildcats' record.

Rice had five players score in double figures led by Arsalan Kazemi with 20. Dylan Ennis had 16 points followed by Julian DuBose with 13 and Tamir Jackson and Connor Frizzelle with 11 each.

Kory Salmon had 16 points followed by Jarrod Jackson with 10 for Louisiana College.

Tudor Fieldhouse is named for Pineville native Bobby Tudor, a former Rice basketball star.

LC returns to ASC action Saturday at Mary Hardin-Baylor, which is ranked 12th in Division III.
