JACKSON, Miss. — Louisiana College's
Danisha Allison had a double-double in her first collegiate game Friday night to help the Lady Wildcats to a 94-87 victory in overtime over LaGrange.
The victory sends LC into the championship game of the Downtown Tip-Off Tournament. LC will play at 3 p.m. today against the winner of Friday's late game between host Millsaps and Blue Mountain College.
Allison, a 5-foot-11 forward from Oakdale, had 16 points and 12 rebounds and made key baskets in the overtime period.
LC (1-0) and LaGrange (1-1) entered overtime tied at 82-all.
Roslyn Wilmer, a senior guard from Marksville, led the Lady Wildcats with 21 points.
Keana Frank, a 5-0 freshman point guard from Elton played a key role for LC, running the team for much of the second half and all of the overtime because senior point guard
Shaina Howard was in foul trouble. Howard fouled out near the end of regulation.
“The best thing we did is that we found a way to win,” LC coach Jason Tinsley said. “We had a lot of players who were nervous as heck tonight but we found a way to win.”
