Box Score
ABILENE, Texas - The Louisiana College men's basketball team ended its three-game skid, but the Wildcats' 79-74 American Southwest Conference win over McMurry was anything but ordinary.

LC (5-7, 4-4 ASC) led by 19 at the half, had a top player foul out early in the second half, nearly squandered that lead in the last minute and was eventually saved by an unlikely group of players.

The Wildcats led 46-27 at the break thanks to 15 first-half points by point guard JeLani Mitchell, who fouled out early in the second half and was replaced primarily by true freshman Jesse Gallegos.

Gallegos responded with seven points, three assists and two critical steals.

The last steal came with under 30 seconds to play in the game, after McMurry (7-5, 5-3 ASC) , which outscored LC 47-33 in the second half, pulled to within 74-70 of the Wildcats after a Teddy Chambers layup.

Gallegos' steal, two free throws by junior wing Jarrod Jackson and a three-point play from senior post Chukwuma Ekeh proved enough to halt what had been a three-game skid dating back to Dec. 16 for LC.

Jackson finished with 13 points and seven rebounds while Ekeh was good for 11 points and six boards. The pair were among five Wildcats to reach double figures in the game, joining Mitchell, Korey Salmon (12 points, nine rebounds) and Danny Sumner (10 points).

McMurry's Steven Jones was the star of the game, statistically, putting up an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double.

Jones was joined by Chambers (15 points, nine rebounds), Steven Johunkin (12 points, eight rebounds) and Bryant Taylor (12 points) in double-figure scoring on the losing side.

Next up for LC, which wrapped a three-game road trip with the win, will be a home meeting, and ASC East Division opener, against rival Mississippi College Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
