ABILENE, Texas - The good news for the Louisiana College men was that they had their best offensive showing of the year. The bad news, the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys became the second straight team to eclipse the century mark versus the Wildcats and defeated LC 107-92 in American Southwest Conference action.
The Wildcats (4-7, 3-4 ASC), who on Tuesday lost 114-62 at NCAA Division I Lamar, trailed 54-52 at the half but were outscored 53-40 in the second period by a Cowboys team that proved proficient at pressing on defense, where they had a school-record 22 steals, as well as making the extra pass on offense.
Matt Addison was typical of the night for Hardin-Simmons on offense, scoring 29 points and dishing out nine assists.
Caey Riddle was good for 20 points, seven assists and seven rebounds while Terrance Booker scored 20 points and Derrick Jefferson 15 for the Cowboys (6-5, 5-2 ASC).
LC was led by
Danny Sumner who scored 20 points after shooting 6-for-8 from three-point range.
Jarrod Jackson went for 18 points and six rebounds, JeLani Mitchell 11points and seven assists and
Chukwuma Ekeh 14 points and five rebounds in the loss.
The Wildcats will next pay a visit to McMurry at 3 p.m. on Saturday for a conference game which will be the last of a three-game road swing for LC.
