Box Score
TYLER, Texas – Louisiana College freshman first baseman Mike Doughty (Crowley, La./Crowley High/LSU-Eunice) connected on a third-inning grand slam, his first homerun of any variety on the year, and gave the Wildcats a 4-2 lead on the road against division-leading Texas-Tyler. That's the good news.

The bad news was almost everything that followed as LC gave up 17 runs and scored none over the next 6 1/2 innings en route to a 19-4 loss to the Patriots, one that dropped Louisiana College to 11-18 overall and 4-6 in American Southwest Conference East Division play.

In total, Texas-Tyler (24-8, 12-0 ASC East) racked up 19 runs on 20 hits while committing one error. LC scored four runs on 11 hits and committed one error.

Stuart Morgan (Yazoo City, Miss./Holmes Community College), pitching in relief of starter Justin Lacy (Bossier City, La./Plain Dealing Academy) in the third inning, took the loss for the Wildcats and fell to 0-3 on the year after working through an inning in which LC surrendered six runs, only two of which were earned.

Texas-Tyler's Matt Sparks (5-1) earned the win for the Patriots after pitching eight full innings, facing 34 total batters, scattering 11 hits and walking one while striking out two.

The play of Doughty, who finished 2-for-4 with one run scored and four RBI, was one of the few bright spots for the Wildcats.

Several other players provided some offense for the LC in the losing effort.

Steven Bowman (Hammond, La./Hammon High/Southwest Mississippi Community College) went 3-for-4 on the night while Jonathan Ettinger (Vicksburg, Miss./Warren Central High/Hinds Community College) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Jon Michael Kidd (West Monroe, La./West Monroe High/Arkansas-Monticello)went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

The two teams will conclude their series Friday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
