Box Score
LONGVIEW, Texas – After hammering LeTourneau over the weekend, it took extra innings for the Louisiana College Wildcats to beat the Yellow Jackets in a non-conference meeting here on Tuesday. Although the offense stalled after the first few innings, LC was able to keep LeTourneau at bay and use clutch hitting to win 8-6 in 10 innings.

An RBI double by Mike Doughty in the top of the tenth scored Steven Bowman, who had singled to get on base for the fourth time. Bowman, who also singled in the first and walked twice, was one of seven Wildcats with two or more hits on the afternoon.

LC jumped out to a 6-2 lead, scoring three in the first and third innings. Third baseman Walt McGee hit a bases loaded double to knock in three runs in the top of the first. LeTourneau grabbed two back in the second, but right fielder John Michael Kid added a two run double in the third inning and Cody Laprarie added an RBI groundout.

McGee, Bowman, and shortstop Steven Davis were 2-4 on the afternoon, while catcher Chris Waguespack and Kidd were 2-5 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Doughty and Jonathan Ettinger led the Wildcats with three for five afternoons.

LeTourneau scored 2 runs in the fifth inning on a double by second baseman Daniel Francis, and added another in each of the next two innings to tie the game. The Wildcats had runners in scoring position in each of the late innings, but stranded 14 players on the afternoon and were unable to push across the winning run in 9 frames.

It was a bullpen day for the Wildcat pitching staff, as Louisiana College threw six pitchers in the contest. Cole Bishop allowed two runs on two hits in two innings of work, and Stuart Morgan threw two scoreless innings in his relief. Dustin Tubre allowed just two hits and struck out two in pitching the 9th and 10th innings to earn the victory.

LeTourneau emptied their bullpen as well, as nine pitchers allowed 16 hits to Louisiana College and struck out only three Wildcats batters.

Although the Yellow Jackets are a conference opponent, this game was a non-conference contest. Louisiana College has their final conference series this weekend when they host University of Texas-Dallas. With a strong weekend series and a result by ETBU against University of the Ozarks, the Wildcats will find themselves qualified for the ASC tournament.
