Box Score
PINEVILLE – One down, five to go. In the Wildcats' quest to win their final six American Southwest Conference East games and thereby guarantee their participation in the conference tournament, Louisiana College defeated the LeTourneau Yellow Jackets 13-7 thanks scoring eight unanswered to close the game.

LC trailed 7-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh but scored eight combined runs in their final two at-bats to improve to 12-21 on the season and 5-8 in the ASC East. LeTourneau fell to 11-23 overall and 2-11 in ASC East play.

The Wildcats took the early lead with a run scored in the first courtesy of a Walt McGee (Pineville, La./Pineville High) infield RBI that put LC ahead 1-0.

That lead grew to 3-0 in the second after a two-RBI single by Cody Laprarie (Dry Prong, La./Grant High).

The Yellow Jackets were able to cut into that lead with an unearned run in the fourth but the Wildcats answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning thanks to an RBI single by Steven Bowman (Hammond, La./Hammond High) that scored Jon Michael Kidd and moved Laprarie to third, where the LC leadoff man proceeded to steal home to give the home team a 5-1 advantage.

LeTourneau was not done, though, and scored two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to take a 7-5 lead.

The Wildcats would tie the score with two runs in the seventh then take the lead for good with six runs in the eighth.

Josh Foster (Winnfield, La./Winnfield High) improved to 1-3 on the year, picking up the win pitching four innings in relief of Grant Cox (Lake Charles, La./Sam Houston High).

The star of the game, however, was Laprarie, who went 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and four RBI.

Bowman was good for three hits in five at-bats with one run scored and two driven in while McGee finished 2-for-5 with two RBI, one of which was the game-winning RBI on a triple in the eighth.

The Wildcats and Yellow Jackets will wrap their three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at noon.
