PINEVILLE - The Wildcats offense showed up strong in both halves of the home doubleheader versus Jarvis Christian Monday night. Unfortunately, the defense was only good in one game as LC fell 13-12 in extra innings in game one before winning game two 14-1.

It was one of the best offensive outings of the year for the Wildcats, chief among them leadoff man Cody Laprarie, who went a combined 6-for-7 on the day with seven runs scored and four batted in.

The bad news was that in the first game, every run the Wildcats, whose record now sits at 5-9, scored was matched and no lead was safe.

LC led 8-2 heading into the fifth, but surrendered six runs in that inning to squander the advantage.

The Wildcats were also up by two, 10-8, in the final inning but allowed four runs in that frame and had to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to force the extra frame.

Shaquille Thomas, who pitched seven innings and allowed 11 hits and nine earned runs with two strike outs and seven walks, picked up the win for the Bulldogs while Steven Jones, pitching in relief for LC, took the loss.

Laprarie went 2-for-3 with four runs scored while designated hitter Anthony Benoit went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two batted in to lead the LC offense in game one.

In game 2, it was all good news for the Wildcats, who scored two runs in third inning, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and eight in the sixth to set up the convincing win, a victory credited to sophomore Jordan Meisner (1-0) who made his first start of the season.

Laprarie was a perfect 4-for-4 in that game with three runs scored and four batted in.
Shortstop Steven Davis went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and one driven in, Chris Magee 2-ofr-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, Ryan Lavergne 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Cole bishop 1-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI.

Next up for LC will be a second doubleheader in as many days, a Tuesday home double feature against Iowa Weseleyan.

Those games, originally slated to start at 4 p.m., have been moved up to 2 p.m. due to the threat of rain.
