ABILENE, Texas - The Wildcats came close but weren't quite able to pull off a road series win over McMurry Saturday. A day after splitting the series-opening doubleheader with McMurry, Louisiana College fell 6-5 after issuing a game-ending, bases-loaded walk to fall to 6-5.

LC, which fell to 4-8 on the season, led 2-1 after three innings and 5-1 after the sixth but allowed McMurry to score four runs in the seventh to tie and one in the ninth to win both the contest and the series.

Stuart Morgan (Yazoo City, Miss./Holmes Community College) took the loss for the Wildcats while Cory Davis picked up the win for McMurry (6-8), both pitching in relief.

LC starter Justin Reed (Kinder, La./Kinder High) pitched six complete allowed just two runs and struck out five and got the no-decision.

The heartbreaking loss in some ways took away from an otherwise stellar day for the Wildcats, who got solid plate performances from five players.

Leadoff man Cody Laprarie (Dry Prong, La./Grant High/LSU-Alexandria) had another solid day, going 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
