Box Score
PINEVILLE, La. – One bad inning cost the Wildcats big time in their 9-7 non-conference loss to NAIA LSU-Alexandria.
But for three unearned run in the fourth inning, Louisiana College's men might have snuck out a victory over their cross-town rivals.
Unfortunately for LC, a win was not in the cards and the Wildcats fell to 9-16 on the season.
LSU-A scored three runs in the first, three unearned in the fourth and three in the sixth inning while LC put up one run in the fourth, three in the sixth and three in the seventh inning.
Colton Knuckles picked up the win for LSU-A while
Stuart Morgan (0-2) took the loss for the Wildcats.
The story of the game, though, was the source of offense for both teams.
While LC got hits from multiple sources, LSU-A scored most its runs thanks to two players, Tid Hilger and James Howell.
Hilger, who played his high school ball locally at Holy Savior Menard, went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI while Howell, a Baton Rouge native, went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.
LC's top batters were Cody Laprarie (1-for-3 with two runs scored), Steven Bowman (two runs scored), Jonathan Ettinger (two runs scored), Corey Jones (1-for-1 with two RBI) and Cole Bishop (2-for-5 with two RBI).
Next up for the Wildcats is a three-game home series against American Southwest Conference foe University of the Ozarks.
The two teams will faceoff in a single, nine-inning game at 6 p.m. on Thursday and follow with a doubleheader beginning at noon on Friday.
