LC men have best showing of year

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Louisiana College men's tennis team might have fallen short against John Brown, losing 5-4, but the Wildcats can hold their heads high knowing they put up their best showing of the year on a neutral court at the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.

Three LC individuals and one pair notched match wins for the first time this season.

Josh Vickery defeated Ethan Jones 6-2, 4-6 and 6-5 in the most exciting match of the day while Michael Sumner defeated Brandon Wiens 8-4 and Josh Engen defeated Al Lacayo 7-5 and 7-5 in other hotly contested matches.

In doubles play, Engen and Vickery defeated Wiens and Lacayo 8-4.

In other matches, Nathan Boles and Cliff Magee lost to Jones and Carlin Toew 8-6, Sumner and Ryan Meadows lost to Eric Engstrom and Tim Myer 8-2, Boles lost to Myer 6-1 and 6-1, Magee lost to Engstromn 6-2 and 6-2 and Meadows fell to Toews 8-6.

The LC men also played Ozarks on the same day but fell 9-0.

In doubles action, Boles and Magee lost to henry Stoltz and Tom Lowe 8-3, Meadows and Sumner fell to Brandon Carlson and Brett Spahn 8-3 and Vickery and Engen lost 8-0 to Ede and Tyler Wilson.

In singels action, Boles lost to Carlson 6-0 and 6-3, Vickery fell to Lowe 6-0 ad 10-6, Magee fell to Jack Barry 6-2 and 6-0, Sumner lost to Stoltz 6-3 and 6-0, Wilson defeated Meadows 6-0 and 6-2 and Spahn bested Engen 6-0 and 6-0.
