Centenary
The Louisiana College men's tennis team returned to action this past Sunday to take on Centenary College in Pineville, Louisiana. The men have been struggling all year, but they were able to pull off a huge win as they defeated Centenary College with a 6-3 score.Â
The men absolutely dominated in doubles action as they won all three round. Things got kicked off with
Matthew Geisel and
Britton Patton as they battled it out for a narrow 8-7 victory. Newcomers
David Dias and
Thomas Hodge followed the pair and managed to squeeze themselves out a tight 8-7 victory. Doubles action ended with
Thomas Richard and Jason Rodriguez clinching an 8-6 victory as the men swept doubles and went up 3-0 early in the tournament.Â
Singles action got off to a hot start as
Matthew Geisel came in and won both matches with a 6-1 score in the first and a 6-2 score in the second. Victories by
Thomas Hodge, and Jason Rodriguez brought the men to victory as they won the series with a 6-3 score and this marked the men's first win in almost a month.
Mary Hardin-Baylor
Louisiana College men's tennis team returned to action in Pineville on March 12, 2019 to take on conference foe Mary-Hardin Baylor. The boys were feeling confident as they were coming off a win against Centenary college. That confidence quickly faded as Mary Hardin Baylor dominated the Wildcats in every category.Â
Doubles action got off to a poor start as
Matthew Geisel and
Britton Patton were shut out and could not score a single point. The dynamic duos of
Thomas Hodge and
David Dias and
Thomas Richard and Jason Rodriguez had on answers and all pairs of men did not score a single point and all three pairs lost sending the men to 0-3 in doubles.Â
Singles was not much better as Geisel got things going for the men. He was able to muster up a few points in both rounds, but ultimately lost to open things up.
Britton Patton and
Thomas Hodge scored a little in their respective singles matches, but
David Dias,
Thomas Richard, and Jason Rodriguez were all shut out. The men tried hard, but them being shut out in singles and doubles resulted in a disappointing 9-0 loss.Â
The men will resume action on March 23, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana as they take on Centenary College for the second time this season. The matches will start at 9 A.M. in Shreveport and then the men will hustle out of Shreveport to head to Marshall, Texas to take on American Southwest conference foe East Texas Baptist University at 2:00 P.M.  For general athletics new follow @LC_Wildcats on Twitter or like Louisiana College Wildcats on Facebook.
