Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Brandon Murphy

Men's Tennis Fall to Gents and Tigers

The Louisiana College men's tennis team returned to action today on March 23, 2019 as they hit the road for back to back series against Centenary and East Texas Baptist University Despite their best efforts, the men fell short in both series.

The men began action against Centenary in Shreveport Louisiana as they took on the college for the second time this year.

Things got off to a promising start as Britton Patton and Matthew Geisel got things started off in doubles action winning their match with a 8-5 score. David Dias and Soto Kubo followed the duo, but fell short as did Thomas Richard and Jason Rodriguez to close out doubles. This put the cats in a 2-1 deficit early.

Singles action saw no luck as the men were mostly swept, Matthew Geisel was the only one to win a match. Everyone else fell short as Centenary cleaned house in doubles action. Despite some glimmers of hope, the men fell short in this one with a final 6-3 score.

ETBU Recap

The men then hit the road to take on American Southwest conference rival ETBU in Marshall, Texas also on Saturday. The bad streak continued for the men as they were absolutely manhandled by ETBU when they lost with a 9-0 score.

Doubles action saw no success as the dynamic duo of Matthew Geisel and Britton Patton could not get it going to start things out. They were quickly followed by David Dias and Jason Rodriguez who only scored a point and were closed out with Thomas Richard and Soto Kubo who were held scoreless.

Singles action didn't get much better, Matthew Geisel saw three rounds as he lost his first, won his second, but ultimately fell short in the third. No other Wildcat could score a single point and the men head back to Pineville getting shutout in Texas and going 0-2 on the day.

The men will remain in Pineville for the rest of the season as they get ready to host University of the Ozarks on March 30, 2019 at the Wildcat tennis courts. For general athletics new follow @LC_Wildcats on Twitter or like Louisiana College Wildcats on Facebook.
