PINEVILLE, La. – Despite hitting back-to-back homeruns, the Louisiana College Wildcats dropped a 10-5 decision to the Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at Allgood Field.

The Crusaders scored single runs in the first and second innings off of Wildcats starter Dustin Tubre, and then scored eight through the middle three frames. Tubre pitched six innings and let up seven earned runs on eleven hits, but did not walk a batter in taking the loss for the home team.

Jonathan Ettinger and Anthony Benoit each hit solo homers to lead off the fifth inning off of Mary Hardin-Baylor's starting pitcher Jared Hopper, who earned the victory with a seven inning performance in which he struck out four and allowed six hits.

It looked as though LC had something on again in the bottom of the eighth inning when Cody Laprairie led off the inning with a single, one of his three hits on the day. After two men were retired, Walt McGee singled and Ettinger doubled in Lapraire for his second RBI of the afternoon. Trying to take advantage of a muddy outfield, McGee attempted to score but was thrown out on a great relay home, despite barreling into catcher Ryan Moreau.

Moreau had three RBIs on two hits and also scored a run in the victory. Shortstop Kyle Flynn and left fielder Andrew White each had a pair of RBIs.

McGee and Ettinger each had a pair of hits and scored a run for Louisiana College, who see its record drop to 2-5. Cole Bishop also knocked in a run, as did catcher Anthony Benoit. The Wildcats will play a double-header starting at noon on Sunday against Mary Hardin-Baylor, weather permitting.
