PINEVILLE, La. – It took a little longer than they expected, but the Louisiana College women's basketball team clinched the American Southwest Conference East Division title on Tuesday night. The Lady Cats needed overtime to edge the Lady Choctaws of Mississippi College 62-61 on Senior Night.

Christy Pantallion hit a running floater with 2.4 seconds remaining in overtime to complete a comeback victory for Louisiana College. Pantallion led the Lady Cats with 18 points as the hosts erased a seven point deficit to force the extra five minutes of play.

The victory ensures that Louisiana College will host the ASC Woman's Basketball tournament February 26th-28th here at H.O. West Field House.

Senior guard Joanna Tate shot three for five from behind the three-point line, pitching in 11 points in her last regular-season home game. Tate's three-pointer in overtime allowed LC to grab an advantage, but the game was still in doubt until the final horn as an MC half-court heave at the buzzer bounced just off the back-rim of the basket.

Voneshia Williams was a force on the boards again, grabbing 12 rebounds to go with her 12 points. Williams had two big offensive rebounds and put-backs to help LC level the game at 56 apiece, which how regulation ended.

Tillisha Givens scored 13 points for the hosts and Brianna Lewis dished out four assists. Roslyn Wilmer had three assists and three steals of her own off the bench as Louisiana College won their 12th straight contest. The Lady Cats improve to 16-2 in conference play and have one more contest on Thursday at Texas-Tyler.

Mississippi College shot 56% from the field in the first half, including 4-7 from downtown and controlled much of the early second half, as both teams made costly turnovers throughout the night.

Jalessa Taylor led the Lady Choctaws with 18 points and had eight rebounds, two assists, and three blocks which stymied earlier comeback attempts from the Lady Wildcats. Anna Patterson was a thorn in LC's side from long-range, hitting three of the four three-pointers she attempted.
