LONGVIEW, Texas – The Lady Cats had little trouble picking up their 14th win of the season and keeping pace with Texas-Dallas in the American Southwest Conference West Division race, defeating LeTourneau 76-50 to improve to 14-2 overall and 10-2 in ASC play.
The Lady Cats took a 20-point lead into the locker room after outscoring LeTourneau 46-26 in the first half and never looked back.
Freshman post player Voneshia Williams (Alexandria, La./Bolton High) led the charge for the LC offense with 15 points and seven rebounds with fellow freshman Natosha Gottlieb (Alexandria, La./Bolton High) putting up 14 points and pulling down six boards.
Senior guard Joanna Tate (Holden, La./Holden High) and sophomore guard Janet Butler (Eros, La./West Ouachita High) scored 11 points apiece in the game while junior guard Briana Lewis (West Monroe, La./West Monroe High) dished out seven assists.
Ass impressive as the Lady Cats' offense was in the game, LC's defense was the star, forcing 23 LeTourneau turnovers, 15 of which coming off steals.
Sophomore guard Roslyn Wilmer (Marksville, La./Marksville High) accounted for six steals in the contest.
LeTourneau was led in scoring by Colleen Redmond (15 points) and Laura Hahn (13).
The win sets up a major showdown between the Lady Cats and Texas-Dallas this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Texas as the winner of this game will assume the lead in the ASC West race.
