Lady Cats knock off No. 22 Hardin-Simmons

PINEVLLE – The No. 22 team n the land was not math for the surging Lady Cats Monday night. On the heals of a Saturday-afternoon win over highly-regarded McMurry, Louisiana College's women's basketball team notched its biggest win of the young season, downing top 25 Hardin-Simmons 63-51.
It's the Lady Cats' third consecutive win and LC has begun its season with a3-0 overall mark (2-0 in American Southwest Conference play).
In a game in which Louisiana College trailed 34-27 at the half, the Lady Cats played like a team on a mission in the second half, outscoring the Cowgirls 36-17 en route to the win.
Freshman Voneshia Williams lead the way for LC, scoring 19 points and pulling down nine rebounds.
Junior Tillisha Givens kept pace with 17 points and eight rebounds while Christy Pantallion was good for 14 points and four assists.
The unsung hero of the game, however, was guard Briana Lewis, who dished out seven assists to go along with her five points.
Hardin-Simmons had three player to reach double figures: Bo Warm (12), Angela Newcombe (12) and Kara Looten (11).
Next up for Louisiana College is a Saturday road trip to Seguin, Texas, and a road showdown with conference foe Texas Lutheran.
