Wildcats Suffer Shutout in RRAC Opener

#22 TAMUT Overwhelms LCU to Start RRAC Play, Doubleheader Sunday

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University softball team opened Red River Athletic Conference play on Saturday finding offense hard to come by in a 12-0 loss to the #22 Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles in five innings at Bramlett Field.

Louisiana Christian (6-4, 0-1 RRAC) was held without a hit through all five innings by Texas A&M-Texarkana (6-3, 1-0 RRAC) while the Eagles scored five runs in the second inning, three in the third, and four in the fourth to blow the game open.

Maci Baldwin drew two walks while Naya Soto was hit by a pitch to represent LCU's lone base runners in the contest.

Addison Greak (2-2) took the loss as she threw the first 2.2 innings and allowed four hits and four runs, three earned, with one walk and no strikeouts.

Katelyn Carpenter had a near identical stat line to Greak's with the only exception being one strikeout.

Carly Carpenter and Samantha Hill also took to the circle and finished with near identical numbers as well with both throwing 0.2 innings, allowing three hits and two runs, both earned with no strikeouts. The lone difference being walks where Carpenter didn't allow any while Hill gave up one.

The Wildcats can still take the series from the #22 Eagles on Sunday as the two teams wrap up the first conference series of the season with a doubleheader which is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. back at Bramlett Field.
