PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University men's basketball team hung tough but a 12-point differential in second chance points was too much to overcome in a 65-54 loss to the Our Lady of the Lake Saints Thursday night on the Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
Louisiana Christian (6-19, 4-15 RRAC) struggled to keep Our Lady of the Lake (15-9, 14-5 RRAC) off the glass as the Saints grabbed 44 rebounds compared to 31 for the Wildcats. OLLU grabbed 18 offensive rebounds which led to 15 second chance points while LCU grabbed just five offensive rebounds and scored three points off them.
LCU's largest lead came with 12:15 left in the first half as
Drew Tebbe hit a three-pointer to give the Wildcats a five-point edge at 14-9.
The Wildcats took some good momentum into the half. Trailing 23-20 with 4:15 left before the break, LCU went on a 9-2 run to take a 29-25 lead into the break as Tebbe beat the buzzer with a jumper just inside the arc.
LCU would hold the advantage early in the second half as well as a lay-up by
Justice Kelly gave the Wildcats a 35-32 lead with 15:30 remaining.
But that's where the decisive run would come as OLLU went on a 17-3 run to open the first double-digit lead of the game for either side at 49-38 with 8:30 remaining in the contest.
The Wildcats cut that down to six points several times over the remainder of the contest, however, the Saints would respond, including an 8-0 run late in the contest which turned a six-point lead into a 14-point advantage, the largest of the contest, at 59-45 with 2:15 remaining.
Tebbe led the way for the Wildcats with 16 points, hitting seven of his 10 shot attempts from the field. He also grabbed four rebounds and had an assist.
Kelly secured another double-double, his sixth of the season and third in a row. He was 6-of-10 from the field on his way to 13 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. He also had a pair of assists and came up with a steal.
Bryce Weinmunson scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out a pair of assists, and had a steal.
LCU out-shot OLLU in the game, hitting 44 percent from the field while the Saints hit just 37.7 percent. However, the extra attempts added up as OLLU took 61 total shots compared to just 50 by the Wildcats in the contest.
The Wildcats play their final home game of the 2025-26 season on Saturday as Texas A&M-San Antonio comes to Pineville for Senior Day. Tip-off of Saturday's contest against the Jaguars (7-18, 6-13 RRAC) is set for 3 p.m. on Gene Rushing Court at H.O. West Fieldhouse with the Senior Day festivities taking place prior to the start of the men's game.
