Tebbe Has Career Day but Late Run Dooms Wildcats

Senior Guard Hits Seven Three-Pointers in Loss at LSUA

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana Christian University got a career day out of Drew Tebbe, but LSU Alexandria's 17-4 game-ending run upended the Wildcats upset bid, falling 67-61 to the Generals Saturday afternoon at The Fort.

Louisiana Christian (2-11, 1-6 RRAC) led by as much as seven points in the second half as Corey Lombard, Jr. got to the rim for a lay-up to give the Wildcats a 57-50 lead with six minutes remaining.

LSUA (8-5, 5-2 RRAC) responded with seven straight points to tie the score up before Justice Kelly scored on a lay-up of his own to put LCU back in front with four minutes left. After the Generals tied the score again, Kelly hit a jumper to give the Wildcats another two-point lead at 61-59.

But it was the Generals who closed out the game from there, scoring the contest's final eight points to pull the win away from the Wildcats.

Tebbe was the hot hand for the Wildcats all afternoon, hitting eight of his 10 shot attempts, including seven of his eight shots from above the arc, for a career-high 23 points. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.

Kelly and Lombard, Jr. both scored 10 points apiece. Kelly was four-of-seven from the field while grabbing five rebounds and doling out a trio of assists as well. Lombard, Jr. grabbed five boards to go with his 10 points off the bench for LCU.

Bryce Weinmunson led the team in rebounding, grabbing seven boards while also getting three steals and a pair of assists.

While LCU enjoyed a major advantage from deep, hitting nine three-pointers to LSUA's four, the Generals made up for it by getting to, and making, their free throws. LSUA made 13 of their 18 free throw attempts while LCU was six-of-seven from the charity line, a seven-point advantage for the Generals in a six-point game.

The Wildcats wrap up their five-game road trip next week with a pair of games in the Alamo city, first taking on Texas A&M-San Antonio on Thursday. Tip-off of Thursday's contest against the Jaguars (4-9, 3-4 RRAC) is set for 7:30 p.m. at the TAMUSA Recreational Sports Center.
