Softball Squeezes Past Xavier, Returns Home Saturday Afternoon

 
ALEXANDRIA, La. – The #6 seed Louisiana Christian University softball program took full advantage of a quartet of errors by the #7 seed Gold Nuggets of Xavier (Louisiana) to continue its season by at least one more ballgame, taking the lead once-and-for-all in the fifth before holding on for dear life to win 4-2.

  • Lexi Broussard did a little bit of everything in helping the Cats survive and advance, collecting base hits in both of her at-bats including a double, a sacrifice fly for an RBI, a sacrifice bunt, plus a stolen base.
 
  • Bella Houck is movin' on up to 18 straight in terms of her current on-base streak, walking twice and singling in the other in addition to scoring a crucial run.
 
  • Miah Broussard recorded her seventh (7-8) win of her swan song season during a relief appearance, contributing 2.1 scoreless innings with a pair of base runners and an equal number of punchouts.
 
  • Emma Hunt logged her eighth multi-steal contest of 2025 and 19th of Hunt's LCU tenure, reaching twice (single and walk) and crossing the dish both times.
 
  • Brooke Ross got the nod in the circle and showed no fear as she stared down the barrel of elimination, tossing 5.2 frames of two-run softball in which three XULA batters were sent back to the dugout on strikes.
 
  • Mariel Medrano and McKenzie Montgomery were the last two student-athletes to make it onto the base paths unscathed, picking up a base on balls and a base knock, respectively.
