Fontenot Brilliant, Bullpen Struggles In Opening Round vs. #4 Indiana Tech

 
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The #5 seed Louisiana Christian University baseball program started off hot, staking itself to a 2-0 edge buoyed by Cy Fontenot's fantastic start, however, the wheels came off in a disastrous sixth inning that saw the Warriors score all eight of its runs as the #4 seed Indiana Tech dispatched the Wildcats to the Loser's Bracket with an 8-2 decision.

  • Fontenot had one of his best showings of the season in what could possibly be his last in an LCU uniform, posting five scoreless and walkless frames of work that included two strikeouts plus an average of one hit per inning.
 
  • Hunter Gotreaux had himself a three-hit day over four at-bats, scoring one of the team's two runs in the process.
 
  • Brady Huffman put together two singles, one of which resulting in an RBI that brought Harrison Waxley in from third base after he reached via one of his two knocks Monday morning during the fourth.
 
  • Adrian Aguilar notched career base hit numbers 205 and 206 opposite ITU, Braden Trull wrapped up the hit tally with a seeing-eye single, and Braden McLin drove in the first RBI of the tournament on a squeeze bunt.
 
  • Owen Simoneaux was the lone reliever to come away unscathed in the ERA department, facing one over the minimum in the eighth and sitting down a batter on strikes.
