Baseball Outlasts Three-Hour Rain Delay & #3 Eagles To Advance

STERLINGTON, La. – The #6 seed Louisiana Christian University baseball program had to play an agonizingly impatient game as lightning delays halted its First Round contest for three consecutive hours, but it ended up being worth the wait as a solo home run by Braden McLin in the seventh inning broke a 3-3 stalemate and became the deciding factor in a 4-3 triumph over the #3 seed Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles on Thursday afternoon.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • McLin was the hitting and fielding hero in the 2024 RRAC Championship Game rematch, going for a season-high of three hits as well as five defensive putouts in right field, launching his third long ball of the campaign in addition to an RBI-double to start the scoring.

  • With a long lull in the action, pitching can be a chore, however, starter Jacob Bareswill was perfect in three full innings with two strikeouts while Braxton Cooksey finished the job by working the final six frames while averaging a whiff per every three outs recorded.

  • Tyler McKenna was the other man to get on-base thrice, taking two bean balls for the team along with a seeing-eye single.

  • Harrison Waxley came up clutch notching two hits, knocking home a pair in one swift swing, a two-run double that replaced McLin at second base following his two-bagger.

  • Hunter Gotreaux and Adrian Aguilar were the final Cats to reach multiple times as Gotreaux doubled on top of walking while Aguilar tallied a knock plus a hit-by-pitch.
