Wildcats Top Performers:
- Texas College was peskier than past years, taking the 2-0 lead into the third, but one mighty swing by Nick Lorio changed the complexion/momentum of game one, hitting a towering three-run home run (sixth of his career) into the trees beyond left-center to turn a 2-2 tie into a 5-2 edge that the Wildcats never relinquished.
- Jacob Bareswill gutted out his second career complete game and first of 2025 to give the bullpen a much-needed seven innings off after a huge workload in the win at McNeese, surviving 11 hits and three earned runs (four total) but allowed zero walks while punching out three Steers.
- The Orange and Blue racked up five doubles for the first time in a month-and-a-half with two of those coming from Braden Trull, who was also the last player to hit multiple two-baggers, coming in that same previous game at Xavier on March 13. For the afternoon, Trull was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and RBIs on top of a walk.
- Brady Huffman also went 2-of-3 with two RBIs plus a base on balls while he scored only once and just one of his knocks went for two bases.
- The last of three batters with multiple base hits was Tyler McKenna as the burly graduate student amassed five total bases and a free pass, legging out his first career triple as well as a two-bagger.
- Luke Morgan picked up his first multi-RBI outing in his 61st contest representing "The Hill", doing so in very different fashions as one came on a safety squeeze bunt and the other on a screaming line drive double.
Next:
- A series victory in either game two (in process) or game three on Saturday would clinch the team's seventh consecutive non-losing season (.500 or better overall record) dating back to 2018.
