Tying Run Left 60 Feet From Home In Heartbreaker At UHV

VICTORIA, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University softball program came agonizingly close to tying the contest in the top of the seventh as the Cats smacked an RBI-single with two runners in scoring position, but the tying score needed to be held up and the next batter flied out to centerfield as LCU fell just 60 feet shy of keeping the game alive in a 3-2 loss.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Jordan Dauthier was the run-producer in that final inning, going 2-for-3 with a walk and the RBI, but hitting the ball just a little too hard and directly at the centerfielder, the cruel result of an unlucky knock.

  • Brooke Ross was fantastic over five innings of relief, whiffing three UHV batters and keeping the score within striking range as she gave up four hits, but zero runs.

  • Emma Hunt was the scoring baserunner in both occasions at Houston-Victoria, clubbing two singles and waiting out a walk with one of the squad's three steals (#110 for her career).

  • Lexi Broussard was solid by producing two hits and a stolen base, Bella Houck drove Hunt in courtesy of a sac fly RBI, and Madelyn Bourgoyne laced the one extra-base hit of the second tilt (a double) plus a single to boot.
