Darkness Aids Wildcats’ Sweep At Arlington Baptist

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University softball program erased a three-run deficit with a four-run fourth then tacked on an insurance run before Mother Nature ran out of visible light, completing the game after five full innings for a 5-3 triumph over the Patriots of ABU, its first doubleheader sweep in the last two weeks.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • The trio of Brooke Ross (starter), Miah Broussard (improved to 5-4), and Camryn Reeves (first career save / collegiate debut) were all picture perfect during their respective stints in the circle, pitching one scoreless inning each with three combined strikeouts and nary a baserunner to be found.

  • Bevan Hartnett provided one-third of the squad's six game two hits, singling twice in three trips to the plate with one of the Cats' two RBIs.

  • The other ribbie came off the stick of Christina Curtis, simultaneously checking off her milestones for first ever hit, RBI, and run scored in the top of the fourth.

  • Lexi Broussard touched the dish both times she reached safely, smacking the only extra-base hit of the nightcap (double), swiping the contest's lone base, and drawing the lone base on balls for the Pineville Nine.

  • Both Ross and Broussard tallied base knocks on top of their stellar performances on the mound, Hannah Harrison and Karlie Stine pinch-ran themselves onto the scoreboard, and Katelyn Carpenter was the recipient of a hit-by-pitch.
