Baseball Evens Overall Record, Vies For Crescent City Sweep

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program has been riding an emotional roller coaster ever since conference play arrived, starting off losing its first six before roaring back to take the next five, returning to .500 for the campaign in the process after downing Xavier (Louisiana) in game one of the Friday doubleheader, 4-2 in seven.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Owen Simoneaux kept the bullpen's impressive scoreless streak intact with lights out stuff, pitching 2.1 innings of five-strikeout ball, both season-bests, while ceding three base runners, but nary a run.

  • While hits were evenly distributed (one apiece to eight different batters), only Harrison Waxley and Braden Trull picked up an RBI, run scored, and walk together as well with Trull's knock going for extra bases (double).

  • The pinch-hitting tandem of Gavin Vordick and Luke Morgan were the deliverers of the other two ribbies for the Wildcats, Vordick doubling in Waxley during the fourth and Morgan singling home Trull in the sixth for insurance purposes.

  • Jacob Bareswill has still yet to taste defeat in 2025, upping his record to 4-0 by hurling 4.1 frames of two-run ball, punching out a pair of Gold Rush along the way.

  • Cowan Alfonso, similar to Morgan Louviere on the softball side of things, came in to record the one-out save in the twin-bill opener, giving him four on the year.

  • Tyler McKenna and Adrian Aguilar both notched two-baggers for their lone knocks of the day as the former walked as well, meanwhile Braxton Cooksey got on-base twice too, smacking a single and drawing four balls away from the strike zone.
