• Cy Fontenot had his strikeout pitches working to his advantage, averaging nearly two per inning (1.8) with nine over five frames but was saddled with the defeat.

 

• Gavin Vordick became the first student-athlete (baseball or softball) to hit multiple dingers this season as the redshirt freshman drove the ball out of the park to score both of the team's runs.

 

• Harrison Waxley, who came jogging around to touch the plate on Vordick's bomb, walked a pair of times in three trips while Tyler McKenna also drew two free passes as well.

 

• Seth Whitney faced the final four batters and put up a zero in the run column, Luke Morgan had the other of the squad's two hits, Braden Trull coaxed four balls out of a Lions pitcher, and Brady Huffman stole his first career base after taking a ball to the back.
