STERLINGTON, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program got its offense via the long ball and its pitching staff struck out ten Lions, but it was not enough to take down Nelson University in a 3-2 pitcher's duel.

  • Gavin Vordick became the first student-athlete (baseball or softball) to hit multiple dingers this season as the redshirt freshman drove the ball out of the park to score both of the team's runs.
 
  • Harrison Waxley, who came jogging around to touch the plate on Vordick's bomb, walked a pair of times in three trips while Tyler McKenna also drew two free passes as well.
 
  • Seth Whitney faced the final four batters and put up a zero in the run column, Luke Morgan had the other of the squad's two hits, Braden Trull coaxed four balls out of a Lions pitcher, and Brady Huffman stole his first career base after taking a ball to the back.
