Wildcats Blank Saints on Senior Day

Sierra Scores Brace in Shutout Win Saturday

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer team converted from the penalty spot twice and got a brace from Juan Sierra in a 3-0 Senior Day win over the Our Lady of the Lake Saints Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Field.

Louisiana Christian (4-5-1, 2-3-1 RRAC) was on the front foot early, putting pressure on the OLLU (2-9-2, 1-5 RRAC) goal which resulted in the Wildcats' first shot from the spot on the day. LCU sent a through ball into the box and the intended target was tugged down as he entered the box, forcing the referee to point to the spot.

Sierra stepped up to the spot in the 26th minute and blasted the shot past the Saints goalkeeper for the first goal of the game.

17 minutes later, Sierra lifted a corner kick into the box and an OLLU defender shoved a Wildcat to the ground, once again forcing the referee to blow the whistle and point to the spot.

This time, Aran Hernandez Vivar took the ball and put it on the spot and he sent the goalkeeper diving the wrong way and easily converted for a 2-0 Wildcat lead. That's the way the two teams would go to the halftime break.

In the 64th minute, as the Wildcats attacked the box, the Saints looked to clear the ball away from danger. However, Sierra was able to take in the loose ball, turn, and send a low screamer from the left side inside the bottom right post for the game's final goal.

LCU took 16 shots in the match, putting eight on frame, compared to 10 shots taken by the Saints with 3 OLLU shots being on target.

Hernandez Vivar took five shots, putting two on target with the goal being his team-leading 10th of the season.

Sierra took three shots, all of which were on frame, and scored his fifth and sixth goals of 2025.

Gustavo Varnier, Ezra Williams, and Thiago Lopes took two shots each with Williams putting both of his on target while Williams had one on frame.

Ricardo Gross (2-2-1) was credited with three saves to get his first complete-game shutout of 2025, playing all 90 minutes in net.

The Wildcats now head out for four-straight away from Pineville, starting on Thursday in Texarkana against Texas A&M-Texarkana. Kickoff of Thursday's contest against the Eagles (4-4-5, 3-2-1 RRAC) is set for 3:30 p.m. at Judy Kelley Morgan Field.
