Late Goals Stun Wildcats in Road Trip Opener

Eagles Score Twice in Final Eight Minutes to Steal Crucial Points

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer team led from the 25th minute to the 83rd minute, but a pair of goals in the final seven minutes gave the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles a 2-1 win over the Wildcats Thursday night at Judy Kelley Morgan Field.

The Wildcats (4-6-1, 2-4-1 RRAC) appeared to be the team on the attacking front early in the contest. That early pressure would force a mistake by the Eagles (5-4-5, 4-2-1 RRAC) as LCU's goal in the 25th minute came off an own goal by the Eagles, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. That would be the score at the break.

But the second half saw the traffic going in the opposite direction as A&M-Texarkana found its offensive footing and put pressure on the LCU goal. The LCU defense continued to hold the Eagles at bay and were closing in on three critical points in the conference standings as teams jockey for position in the upcoming RRAC Championship Tournament.

However, TAMUT found the equalizer in the 83rd minute, and then struck again for the winner in the 89th minute, stealing away the three points in the contest's final seven minutes.

Aran Hernandez Vivar took four shots in the contest, putting all of them on target.

Both Thiago Lopes and Juan Pablo Murillo Pazos took shots with one on frame apiece.

LCU ended the match by taking 12 shots, putting 10 on target.

Ricardo Gross (2-3-1) was credited with four saves throughout his 90 minutes in net as TAMUT sent 17 shots overall his way.

The Wildcats look to rebound in the second match of four-straight away from home on Saturday, taking on Jarvis Christian in Hawkins, Texas. Kickoff of Saturday's contest against the Bulldogs (1-10-1, 1-5-1 RRAC) is set for 3:30 p.m. at Wendon L. Blair Field.
