Wildcats Stay Hot Behind Lombard & McGhee, Win Fourth In-A-Row

Box Score

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University men's basketball program is heading back to H.O. West Fieldhouse soaring high after its fourth consecutive victory, its first time putting together a streak of that magnitude since going for six straight in its final year in the American Southwest Conference, toppling TAMUSA by a final score of 75-67.

LCU was nearly flawless from the charity stripe, swishing 20-of-21 (95.2%) of their freebies, a season-best percentage-wise.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Devin Carter was the primary culprit for the Wildcats' huge day at the line, stepping up to knock down all of his season-high  ten extra chances despite struggling overall (3-for-13, 23.1%) and bouncing back effortlessly to lead LCU in scoring with 18.

  • Corey Lombard is nothing if not efficient, posting a perfect field goal percentage for the second time during his debut year in Orange and Blue, going a perfect 5-for-5 inside the paint on top of making both free throw shots as he produced 12 big bench points plus a quarter of rebounds.

  • One of the few key contributors to return from 2023-24, Jon'Quarius McGhee is beginning to hit his stride of late, bringing in a career/contest-most nine rebounds along with 11 points to fall painfully short of his first ever double-double in his 42nd game alongside Coach Mason.

  • Jonothon Barnes is growing into a team leader as the season wears on, dishing out a personal-record five assists, the team had only nine overall (55.6%), in addition to eight points.

  • Chukwuemeke Nwaoshai is starting to pick up the pace in the blocking category, rejecting a campaign-high three potential Jags buckets in back-to-back outings.

Next:

  • For the first time since Xavier shattered the backboard on February 10, 2024, basketball will play on-campus with a full allotment of students back in session when the Cats host the Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.
