Ace, Ace, Baby: Volleyball Dominates Wiley In Straight Sets

 
MARSHALL, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University volleyball program dropped nearly a dozen service aces on the hosts of the Wiley Showdown, rising back to the .500 mark on the season with a sweep of the opposing Wildcats.

  • Kate Campbell and Katie Spell spearheaded a two-headed monster, making up 23 of the squad's 42 kills (54.8%) as the former notched 12 (4.00 p/s) and the latter put up an 11 (3.67 p/s) spot including a .348 efficiency rating.
 
  • Emma Cother had herself possibly the best evening of the year setter-wise, averaging an even ten assists per set (30 total) and tying for the team title for digs (8, 2.67 p/s) in addition to a pair of aces.
 
  • Jessica Smith was the co-leader in digs with her teammate above (8, 2.67 p/s) while smashing a match-high four service aces.

Career 
 
  • Campbell passed Paris Babino (2017-21, 274) for career points, climbing up the ranks to seventh at 284.
 
  • Kierra Jones contributed one ace to the box score, tying Graduate Assistant Aniah Adams (2019-23) for seventh as well, collecting her 45th.
 
Season 
 
  • Cother also jumped past Babino (301) for seventh place all-time, but in her instance, it was single-season assists (318).
 
Team 
 
  • The Orange and Blue's sixth triumph moves the team into sole possession of the third-most wins in school history, behind only the past two seasons which both ended with double-figure win totals.
 
Game 
 
  • For the second time in the first dozen matches, Louisiana Christian had one of its most efficient attacking sprees ever, clubbing the ninth-best hitting percentage in its eight-plus campaigns with a stellar .297 mark, tallying 42 kills opposed to 15 errors over 91 attempts.
