Majors Top Wildcats As Tournament Finale Goes The Distance

 
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Louisiana Christian University volleyball program alternated set wins against Millsaps College, unfortunately, since the Majors took the first one, they also claimed set three and the clinching set five to drop the Wildcats to 5-5.
 
The club has now participated in 23 matches that went the full five in their eight seasons, falling to 8-15 (34.8%) all-time while snapping a modest two-game winning streak in such contests.

Wildcats Top Performers: 
 
  • Megan O'Neal returned to the lineup with authority, co-leading the Cats in kills (12, 2.40 p/s) with Kate Campbell, collecting six digs (1.20 p/s), registering a career-high for blocks (3, 0.60 p/s) and putting together her first multi-ace affair (2, 0.40 p/s).
 
  • Mallory Wills had arguably her top statistical day of her freshman campaign, knocking down a team-best four blocks (two solos, 0.80 p/s) and punishing eight kills (1.60 p/s).
 
  • Another first year student-athlete, Angelina Medrano, saw her role expand on Saturday morning, registering eight digs (1.60 p/s) and a pair of service aces (0.40 p/s).
 
  • Emma Cother put together her seventh double-double in the team's first ten tilts (70%), going for an average of 8.2 assists (41) and 2.8 digs (14) as well as two more aces on top of a surprise kill.
 
  • Leah Stamps nearly tied her personal digs benchmark, coming up two short with 28 (5.6 p/s) overall to go along with a quartet of assists (0.80 p/s).

  • Campbell rose on two different lists, moving into seventh for kills (239) and eighth regarding points (263), leaving Paola Salas Adorno (2018) behind her on both accounts.
 
  • O'Neal had been stuck in the tenth slot for kills, but she tied Paris Babino (2017-21) for ninth vs. MC with 183.
 
Game 
 
  • Collectively, LCU logged both the seventh-highest amount of attack attempts (183) and solo blocks (4) over a single-match span.
 
  • Stamps, while falling short of the career-best as previously stated, she did move into a three-way tie for fourth-highest dig total in a game all-time, with the other two occurrences coming from her in each of the past two seasons (October 17, 2023 and October 19, 2022).
 
Next:
  
  • Volleyball will try to get back on the winning track Friday at 4 p.m. in its third tournament in as many weekends, the Wiley Showdown, in Marshall, Texas against the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Pomeroys.
