Elation To Anguish: Baseball Takes Lead In Ninth Only To Fall In Bottom Half

STERLINGTON, La. – The #5 Louisiana Christian University baseball program rode the roller-coaster of emotions in the ninth inning of the RRAC Semifinals on Saturday evening, lining into a double play with the bases loaded, then putting together a pair of two-out RBI singles to take the lead, only for #2 Texas A&M-Texarkana to eventually advance to the championship with two of their own in the bottom half during a 8-7 thriller for the ages.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Logan Bertucci is starting to build his case for an RRAC All-Tournament Team bid, logging the club's only multi-hit affair in a 2-for-3 (.667) showing that saw him drive in a run and also score a run.

  • Hunter Gotreaux collected a pair of ribbies for the Wildcats, getting the party started by staking LCU with a lead in the opening frame via a RBI single and then taking one for the team with the bases loaded as he got hit-by-a-pitch for a bruise-inducing ribbie.

  • Luke Morgan was on the delivering end of the Orange and Blue's one extra-base hit, clobbering a double while walking in a run in the eighth.

Next:

  • The men from Pineville will now have to beat their nemesis; #1 LSU Shreveport; for the second time in three days after going 15 seasons without one in order to get another crack at the Eagles, going toe-to-toe with the Pilots at 1 p.m. on Saturday for another chance to make the title game later that day.
