Wildcats Top Performers:
Â
- Harrison Waxley did everything and then some on Sunday to will the Wildcats to the brink of glory, sending LSU Shreveport packing with a walk-off single in the first contest before making his first career collegiate pitching appearance in the nightcap, getting the start on the mound and giving his skipper a much-needed three full innings of one-run work in addition to a pair of strikeouts. The RRAC Freshman of the Year led the team by going 4-for-8 at the dish (.500) with an LCU-best four RBIs and two doubles on top of scoring twice, walking once, and registering a sacrifice fly.
Â
- Our thoughts and prayers are with Hunter Gotreaux as the middle infielder exited the field in an ambulance after taking a hit-by-pitch to the face during extra innings versus LSU Shreveport. He ended his night with two base knocks, both doubles, plus a stolen base.
Â
- Colton Williams (2.2 IP), Kade Linn (2.2 IP), and Jacob Bareswill (1.0 IP) all were marvelous in relief as the trio combined for 6.1 scoreless frames and five whiffs without a single walk while Linn picked up his first career win in game one and Bareswill notched his second save of the season in game two.
Â
- Braden Trull made it his mission to reach safely in any way, shape or form possible and succeeded, upping his current on-base streak to a baker's dozen (13) via his tied for Wildcat-most sixth homer (a two-run shot) to go along with a single, drew two free passes and also ate two bean balls, making the opposition pay for it all by crossing the dish four times.
Â
- Brady Sers had a stellar showing, hitting .750 (3-of-4) on top of tacking one RBI, run scored, walk, and steal apiece.
Â
- Cy Fontenot stared down the fourth-ranked team in the country and did not blink nor waver, hurling five-and-two-thirds of two-run baseball to go along with nearly as many punchouts (5) as a combination of hits or walks allowed (6).
