Wildcats Top Performers:
- The Wildcats had never been shutout in an NAIA Regional matchup coming into their tussle with top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College over a three-game sample size and Brady Sers made sure it was not going to happen Monday evening, destroying a pinch-hit, two-out, two-RBI double into the gap to keep the streak alive for at least another day.
- Kade Linn was flawless in his lone inning of relief, striking out the side in order.
- The other LCU pitcher to avoid the offensive barrage was Coleman Haltom, who also set down GGC in order, albeit with just a single whiff.
- Nicholas Brunet now has two separate double-digit on-base streaks in 2024, reaching safely for the tenth tilt in-a-row after getting drilled with a pitch.
- Harrison Waxley was the only Cat to make his way onto the basepaths more than once, singling, walking, and scoring on the Sers two-bagger.
Notes:
- Louisiana Christian had made the NAIA Regionals once before back in 1987 as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions, but fell in both of their matchups, versus Grand Canyon (9-4) and Lubbock Christian (14-12) in Lubbock, Texas. They are now 1-3 (25%) all-time in the NAIA Regional round.
Next:
- A chance at righting the ship will have to wait until approximately 6 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. ET as Coach Byrnes' men will play the winner between the #3 seed Ottawa (Arizona) Spirit and the club on the receiving end of LCU's Monday morning victory, #4 seed Bushnell.
