PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University softball program scored four runs in the first inning of the doubleheader before getting shutout the rest of the way in a 5-4 game one defeat but came roaring back in the second contest as they used a five-run sixth to put the ballgame on ice as they earned a hard-fought split courtesy of an 8-2 nightcap tally.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Bella Houck was example number one of the resiliency shown by the Wildcats on Tuesday, grinding her way through a 0-for-3 opener to go 4-for-4 on the back half, ending the night with a .571 batting average, a tied for team-high three runs scored (the other was Lexie Marks), and fell a triple shy of the cycle as she crushed her fifth home run of the campaign.

  • With that two-RBI round-tripper, Houck has accounted for 62.5% of the squad's eight dingers as BreAnna Corkern has launched a pair and Olivia Coaker put one over the wall.

  • Example number two was Miah Broussard, taking the late-game loss before coming back into the circle with a vengeance, snatching the win back over six strong frames in which she surrendered just two runs and one walk for victory five of 2024.

  • Jordan Dauthier has been consistently reliable over her recent five-game hitting streak, going 2-of-4 in each tilt with a pair of clutch RBI doubles during back-to-back innings of the triumph, collecting four ribbies overall.

  • Emma Hunt took exactly what the Generals' pitching staff gave her, walking three times, singling twice in a trio of official at-bats, stealing a base, and scoring a run.

Next:

  • Due to the long-distance traveling by the visiting Southwest (New Mexico) Mustangs, Saturday's RRAC doubleheader was pushed up two hours out of courtesy to USW for a 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. twin-bill.
