Softball Goes Full Throttle In Double Shutout Of Mustangs


PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University softball program celebrated National Student-Athlete Day with a full display of overwhelming dominance, outscoring the Mustangs 19-0, outhitting them by a 26-7 margin, and committing zero errors to the visitors' five as they made quick work of the University of the Southwest, 10-0 and 9-0, both in five frames.

Wildcats Top Performers:
 
  • On the offensive end, 10 of the 13 batters (76.9%) that stepped to the plate hit .500 or better while the Wildcats as a whole were 26-for-49 (.531) for the afternoon.
 
  • Heather Trice stepped up to the plate as a pinch-hitter in game two and delivered a 2-RBI double, collecting her first career hit, extra-base hit, and two ribbies as a collegian.
 
  • Morgan Louviere started and won both ballgames versus Southwest, going three scoreless during each appearance on top of four total strikeouts and just five baserunners allowed to notch her ninth as well as tenth victories in the circle.
   
  • Jordan Dauthier kept up her torrid pace, putting together four hits in five plate appearances (.800) om addition to a team-high four RBIs.
 
  • Lexie Marks was the hit queen and a speed demon, recording a Wildcats-best five base knocks (all singles), a tied for LCU-most three runs scored, and multiple stolen bases (2) without getting caught.
 
  • Bella Houck officially became the only Orange and Blue clad lady to hit double-digits on her current on-base streak, crossing over to 11 straight during a 3-for-4 (.750) showing.
 
  • Olivia Coaker made the most of her limited chances on the morning/afternoon, producing three runs batted in on a single, a double, a walk, plus a sacrifice fly.

  • The road doubleheader at William Carey from March 6 will be made up on Tuesday at 3 and 5 p.m. in Hattiesburg as LCU continues its quest towards their first NAIA Tournament appearance.
