Kelley Hits Pinch-Hit, Three-Run Bomb In 9th Inning Of Game Three At USW

HOBBS, N.M. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program scored the first two runs of the ballgame then gave up the next ten unanswered before getting three back in the final frame, but it was not enough to salvage the series as the baseball dropped its seventh straight by a 10-5 margin.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Chris Kelley, a native of Pineville, recorded his first career hit (double) and second RBI in Friday's doubleheader. Now he can add a pinch-hit, three-run home run to his ledger as he came up for Brady Sers in the top of the ninth and deposited one over the fence to give him a four-RBI series.

  • Braden Trull was the lone Wildcat with a multi-hit showing, going 2-for-3 (.667) with the team's other extra-base knock, an RBI-double, while scoring two times and walking as well.

  • Tyler McKenna might have seen his 16-game hitting streak ruined, however, he did keep his team-best 22-contest on-base string intact, getting to first with a painful bean ball as he overtook Nicholas Brunet's 21 in-a-row for the longest on the club.

  • Colton Williams was the only pitcher in Orange and Blue to come away unscathed, hurling a scoreless seventh with his only blemish being a hit-by-pitch.

Next:

  • Louisiana Christian will look to snap out of its prolonged funk on Tuesday afternoon when they head to Westwego, Louisiana to face #13 Loyola (New Orleans) for a 3 p.m. showdown inside Segnette Field as the Cats look for a home-and-home sweep of a NAIA top-15 foe.
