Diamond Cats Score Three In The Ninth, But Strand Tying Run On Second

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program came into the bottom of the ninth down four and nearly erased the deficit entirely, putting three on the board while the tying and winning runs stood at second and first as LCU lost the finale, 8-7.

Wildcats Top Performers:
 

  • Tyler McKenna went 2-of-5 with a pair of singles to give him a hit in his 11th straight contest as well as the 16th in-a-row that he's reached safely.

 
  • Harrison Waxley ballooned his on-base to 12 too, grabbing a team-high three hits in five at-bats (.600) which included a double plus an RBI and a run scored.

   
  • Jayden Drake came on to stop the bleeding after the Rams scored four in the seventh, finishing out the game with 2.2 scoreless innings where he walked no one in addition to striking out three.

 
  • Logan Bertucci did not start the day, replacing Gabe Spedale in the field before recording a pair of hits, an RBI double on top of a single.

 
  • Hunter Gotreaux reached thrice in nine frames, once via a single, once on a walk (the only one by LCU), and once courtesy of a hit-by-pitch to go along with one RBI and one run apiece. 

 

Notes:

 
  • Despite tying a season-high with 18 hits, the Wildcats were only able to muster seven runs while the other two times it happened they scored 19 and 12.

  • The biggest three-game series of the regular season is next, starting on Friday, April 5 when Louisiana Christian hosts the NAIA's second-ranked ball club and the RRAC leader LSU Shreveport for a single contest (6 p.m.).
