Wildcats Top Performers:
Â
- Hunter Gotreaux had the game of his life in the opener, going 3-for-3 with eight RBIs, three runs scored, a pair of home runs, and a triple then scoring twice, stealing two bases and walking in the nightcap.
Â
- Jacob Bareswill went the distance in game one, striking out 11 Steers while giving up just one run on three hits and two free passes.
Â
- Andrew Yuratich tamed Texas College in game two, going six strong on top of five punchouts, ceding zero walks and six hits before handing the ball over to Coleman Haltom in the seventh where he fanned two.
Â
- Noah Gaspard was perfect at the dish as the backstop for Bareswill, lacing a trio of singles with a base on balls in four plate appearances.
Â
- Harrison Waxley launched a three-RBI moonshot into the trees beyond the left-centerfield fence as part of a 3-of-8 (.375) night, driving in four baserunners total and scoring the same amount of times.
Â
- Adrian Cindo had just one hit in four at-bats as he stepped to the plate as a pinch-hitter during the bottom of the fifth (game two). He doubled that number with one swing, rocketing a two-run round-tripper to straightaway left that dented the scoreboard both physically and in the run column.
Â
- Gabe Spedale did not go yard, but if he had, it would have given him the prolonged cycle over the 14 innings of baseball on Friday. The speedy outfielder logged a single, double, and triple in a 3-of-8 (.375) outing, driving home a pair.
Â
- Braden Trull knocked in an RBI while clubbing two doubles against the visitors from TC and Caleb Duhon used his patience to coax three walks in addition to crossing the plate twice, a two-bagger, and a swipe of second.
Â
Notes
Â
- With the sweep, Head Coach Mike Byrnes notched career win numbers 498 and 499 at Louisiana College / Christian University, putting him just one shy of the historic 500-win milestone.
