Wildcats Top Performers:
Â
- Daylon Charles is almost a stone cold lock to earn an All-SAC First Team selection this year, scoring a career-high three touchdowns for the third time in his past five games to give him 14 scores on the season, logging a personal-best 26 totes for 78 yards.
Â
- Jahiem Mitchell's biggest contribution of the day was on an extra point attempt, taking the blocked PAT off the hands of Jaden Jones and scoring 97 yards in the other direction for a pivotal two-point conversion.
Â
- For Jones, it was the first blocked kick of any kind during his now 12-game stint on "The Hill" as the team's leading tackler added six more to his total vs. the Lions.
Â
- River Thompson and Allen Hamilton split the quarterback duties for Offensive Coordinator Cory York as Thompson posted a perfect QBR of 158.3 by going a perfect 8-for-8 passing with a touchdown over 107 yards while Hamilton did his damage with his legs, leading all players with 87 rushing yards and an 8.7 average in addition to eight completions spanning 101 yards through the air.
Â
- Jermarian Jackson became the first defender in five weeks to register double-digit tackles as he fronted Tyson Andrus' defense with a season-high 11 stops (seven solo), three tackles for loss and the Cats' lone sack.
Â
- Levi Hilborn was a menace on Josh Graham's special teams unit, blasting five of his six kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks (83.3%) and four of his five punts inside the 20-yard line (80%) plus a 40-yard field goal to boot.
Â
- Ethan Christman secured his LCU-best fourth touchdown reception of the year and led the wide receivers with 83 receiving yards on five catches including the longest play from scrimmage; a 59-yard rainbow connection from Thompson that trimmed the deficit to 26-24 with just over 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Â
- Pop McGhee originally saw his pass breakup streak finally come to an end at 19-in-a-row, however, upon further review of the game film he was rewarded with a PBU for his 20th straight game in addition to his second interception of the season and eighth of his career.
Â
- Nate Sullivan had a fantastic contest, setting a career-high of six tackles, producing both a TFL and a pass breakup, plus he forced then recovered a Lions fumble.
Â
- Trae Grogan tripled his season tackle total from four to 12 in Waxahachie, bringing down eight ballcarriers.
Â
- Trent Ginn came up just one yard shy of his receiving yards total during his lone snag of the afternoon, taking it 55 yards during a pitch-and-catch with Hamilton as he had previously amassed 56 yards on six catches in the eight appearances made entering the matchup.
Â
Next:
Â
- A golden opportunity for Head Coach Ben McLaughlin's first potential winning streak looms in front of them as they travel to the capital of Arkansas to face the winless Buffaloes of ABC, who have been outscored 389 to 54 over its seven SAC games to date.
