String Of 25-Straight Games With 100 Rushing Yards Ends Against #24 Spirit

 
PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University football program did not eclipse 100 yards on the ground for the first time since September 24, 2022 (at #7 OUAZ), a span of 25 straight contests, during a 70-14 loss to the 24th-ranked Spirit on Saturday morning.

Wildcats Top Performers:
 
  • Jermarian Jackson made big plays all morning long, winding up with a season/team-high nine tackles (four solo), two tackles for loss, a quarterback hurry, and both forced a fumble as well as recovered one on two separate plays.
 
  • Allen Hamilton delivered both of the Orange and Blue's touchdowns, tossing one out to the flat to Datlan Cunningham for ten-yard score (his first career receiving TD on his second career catch) with the other coming on a five-yard designed running attempt.
 
                    * The freshman quarterback from New Iberia Senior High School played mistake-free football, completing a season-best 14 passes for 125 yards and his first multi-score outing.  
 
  • Jahiem Mitchell matched his career-high of three pass breakups from the last week's matchup against Texas College, contributing a TFL as well.
 
  • His teammate in the defensive backfield, Pop McGhee directly caused an incompletion for the 19th game in-a-row in addition to popping the pigskin loose for the first time in his 29th career matchup, saving a OUAZ touchdown with his punchout at the LCU two, recovered in the end zone by Logan Brimmer.
 
  • Daylon Charles and Ethan Christman were the Cats' rushing / receiving leaders respectively, as Charles gained 62 yards rushing while Christman caught a quartet of targets for 53 yards receiving.
 
  • Kavin Touriac and Isaiah Mormon tied with Jackson for the squad's tackling crown at nine, the former did so along with his first career forced fumble and the latter set a new personal-best.
 
  • Levi Hilborn boomed a 51-yard punt and trapped the Spirit inside their five-yard line during two of his seven punts.
